'Really appreciate what you have done'

"My father was awarded a partial pension benefit from the VA last week, and has received a check retro to 1/14/10, the date of my informal claim filed online under your guidance. His monthly award is $1,204, as he did not get the Aid and Attendance benefit. The VA explanation was very detailed, and I am impressed that a government agency goes to the length that they do to justify the claim. I really appreciate what you have done for my father and me, and would be a good reference for you and AWG should you need one."

'How helpful and caring you were'

"I am writing to say thank you for all of your help with the VA benefit. I was skeptical about using your guidebook and doing everything on my own, but it worked! I was notified in 27 days that I was approved for the benefit. When I told my friends, they couldn't believe it since two of them have been waiting months to hear back from the VA. I have already told many people about how helpful and caring you were. Thank you for all of your help. I'm glad that I joined Aging with Grace. Sincerely yours,"

'Everything is now taken care of'

"Dear Patricia:
The assistance you gave me when I was in crisis with my parents a year ago was really wonderful. You helped me find in-home care, hooked me up with Bob Slutsky, guided me on the learning curve I suddenly needed to negotiate, and on and on. The epilogue is this: Mom and Dad both got into Fairview Paper Mill, where Dad died last February, essentially, "all wore out." Mom then had a problem with a night aide, but as I began to investigate, a bed opened up at Abramson Center (our first choice all along) and I moved her there, where she has been doing much better. Meanwhile, Bob Slutsky got me through all the financial and legal matters, drew up an agreement for me to be legally paid for my caregiver services (since I had to leave my life in NYC and work for my parents full-time for a while), and handled Mom's Medicaid application when she was spent down after Dad's death. So everything is now taken care of with your help and I no longer need your services. With my continued thanks, I will now let my membership lapse. Be assured that I will continue, as I already have, to recommend you to anyone who is thrust into Eldercare Mode. Learning about you through Union Plus has been one of the best benefits that program has given me. Thanks once again,"

'So pleased we discovered Aging with Grace'

"My experience with Aging with Grace has been FANTASTIC from start to finish. They are an excellent resource. They either had the answer and/or direction for the myriad questions I had throughout the process of attaining the Aid and Attendance benefit for my mother, an 89-year-old WWII veteran. The Tool Kit that Aging with Grace provides is rather handy, and with your input and thoroughness, I was able to have my mother approved in a remarkable 11 days!! I believe the key to this level of expediency is preparedness and direct access to quality, competent and confident consultants. I am so pleased we discovered Aging with Grace and thrilled we are able to alleviate some of the expenses related to my mother's advancing dementia."

'Instrumental in arranging a respite stay'

"Dear Patty,
Thank you so very much for all your help in our time of crisis. We never knew that mom was carrying such a burden in caring for dad. With her sudden demise we were all at a loss as to what to do and how to do it. My mother never let on when we talked on the phone that that dad's needs were so great. Patty, thank you again for being so instrumental in arranging a respite stay for him, so that we could grieve without worrying about caring for him. He adjusted better than my brother and I would have expected, and we have made the decision to make him a permanent resident. I need to return home to Maryland shortly. I know that I can do that with a sense of peace because of all the help Aging with Grace has given me.
Sincerely, "

'Your assistance was invaluable'

"Dear Ms. Grace,
Please excuse my tardiness in not writing this letter sooner. Mother has settled in very nicely into her apartment, and I now have a minute to breathe. She is delighted that she is surrounded by her cherished possessions and has the security of help if the need were to arise again. Her independence has always been very important to her, and she is content feeling that she is still very independent. Your assistance was invaluable to our family. "

'In a hopeless situation until I talked to you'

"Dear Aging with Grace,
I just wanted to follow up and let you know how much we have appreciated you and your service. My Mom has been in her new home for a few months now. She originally was accepted into the dementia care unit and after one month she moved to an assisted living unit. Her new medication, the wonderful staff and great social activities have truly given her a new life. I thought we were in a hopeless situation until I talked to you. No other medical or social professional was able to help her or give us alternatives in our specific situation. I believe that our paths in life were meant to cross. Thank you so much for all your support and understanding."

'Thank you for being there'

"Dear Aging with Grace,
Finding an assisted living residence for Dad was an intimidating task. How will I find worthwhile places to visit? How will I know which place would best suit him? Will he be happy with my choice? I obviously needed help. That is why I was so grateful when I attended your lunch-and-learn at work and called Aging with Grace the next day and spoke with Jessica Ozmina. She took the time to listen and understood what I was facing. She helped me create a list of possibilities. I visited them all. It was when I was sure which one would be the best for Dad that I called Jessica to personally thank her. She was wonderful. She confirmed, in my mind, in so many ways, that my choice was a good one. She told me why her impressions were so positive when visiting my choice for Dad. It was so wonderful to hear someone so experienced say exactly what I was feeling. Jessica provided me with invaluable information. I could never have done this as thoroughly alone. When I first read about Aging with Grace it sounded too good to be true. However, since I needed help, I decided to attend your event. How fortunate for us that I did! The truth is that without your help I might not feel quite this good about one of the most difficult decisions I've ever had to make. Thank you for being there. Sincerely,"
— Sandy

'You have made me feel so much more at ease'

"Hi Beth,
I want to thank you again for everything that you have done for me! You are truly a wonderful person. Thank you most of all for the shoulder you let me cry on. I have really struggled with all of these tremendous decisions that I have to make and at times I feel so lost and unsupported. You have made me feel so much more at ease. You have been my greatest means of support and for that I am grateful!"
— Janice

'You are right on the ball'

"Dear Christine,
Thanks so much — you are right on the ball. The prescription program is a life saver. It will save Mom so much! I will look at the action plan that you sent me and help Mom with her decision. You are much appreciated! I feel some things are finally getting started in the right direction after almost four years! Thanks again! Sincerely,"
— Deborah

'A wonderful outcome for my mom'

"Dear Patricia,
I have wanted to call and thank you for all of your wonderful help about two years ago; unfortunately I lost your phone number and did not know your email address. You may or may not remember but you helped me find extra income for my mom due to my dad being a vet from WWII. It was a long process, but nevertheless, a wonderful outcome for my mom, who is in an assisted living facility and truly needed that extra income from the Vet Administration. Please know that you have helped my family tremendously. We are extremely grateful and most thankful to you. Many thanks,"
— Jill P.

'Really impressed with your website'

"I am sending this email to say that I am really impressed with your website! It is written so that the consumer can easily see what AWG provides and how they can be helped. I review fellow geriatric care manager websites often and am always looking for ways to improve my own. Your website copy was easy to read and understand and clearly written for consumer accessibility! Good work!"

'Your expertise made our lives so much easier'

"Dear Patricia,
Just over a year ago, you provided the Brooks family with your kind expertise in placing our mother Thelma Brooks. You helped us maneuver through the maze of the senior placement system. Your expertise made our lives so much easier. Each of us, Jeff, Frank and I, are extremely grateful. You went above and beyond. May God truly bless you. Sincerely,"

'It's comforting to know you're there'

"Dear Aging with Grace,
Just wanted to write to say thank you for your help. My aunt is happily living her final years in a beautiful home where she is getting 24-hour health and mind care, thanks to you. I went to Seattle on a mission and ran into dead ends or was just not happy with what I was finding. After the second day, I got over me and put it in the hands of God. Then, I remembered Aging with Grace. I must say, when you gave me the name of Helen's place in Spanaway, Washington, I was skeptical because I know how many phone calls and places I had been to with no prospects. With your help we were able to immediately help my Aunt Elizabeth and my friend's mother, Helen. Thank you so much. When I returned home, my mother-in-law had a blood clot in her leg and is now in the hospital. My mom and dad are 91 years old, so I know that it won't be long before things happen with them (in Seattle), so I may be calling you again for more help. It's comforting to know you're there and my joining with Aging with Grace is worth its weight in gold. Thank you and God bless,"
